While lying on my couch, sucking in pure oxygen from my"Invacare Platinum XL Oxygen Concentrator," (No Smoking Please) from the wonderful people atApria Healthcare,I started thinking about the"Drake Equation."   The Drake Equation, written I believe in 1961,is a probability equation to arrive at an estimated number of activeand communicativeExtraterrestrial Civilizationsin theMilky Way Galaxy. Back in the early 1960's the group thatDr. Frank Drakewas working with estimated that there could be as many as50,000 Planetsin theMilky Waythat hadIntelligent Communicative Extraterrestrial Life. That was still in the early days ofRadio Astronomyand a long beforeSETI.In even in those early days,50,000 Planetsseemed like a lot of possiblePlanetsforIntelligent Life. What came to my mind was, every story has aBeginning,Middle, and anEnd.The Drake Equationtakes only into account theMiddle Possibility. What ifHumansare the veryFirst Intelligent Lifein theMilky Way?Or,even worse, what if we are theLast Intelligent Life? That still bodes to the question"Are We Alone?"
This is,Does Not Mean That Other Galaxies Do Not Have Intelligent Life,Jim Hauenstein,
 And,
“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” - Arthur C. Clarke -
That is my story and I am sticking to it!
