Notes from Facebook Jail

Yep, I am back in Facebook jail.  This time, it is only for 24 hours. Not a bad stretch for parole violation.  Some of you know, that I do Author Take Overs on Facebook. It is my best marketing tool. I get to talk about my books but more importantly I get to meet readers, current and new. Along with writers and discover some great books.

However, being an erotica writer subjects you to the FB police, and they can shut you down without notice.  Yesterday I was at an event, posting teasers and links as I usually do and near the end, I was kicked off.  The notice said violated FB guidelines, nothing specific, and it would be for 24 hours.

So I can’t send or respond to messages, like anything.  Some people howl censorship and find it unfair.  I don’t like it either even though I understand FB point. They can’t control who accesses their site, and what they see.  What does make me wonder why me? I am only one of hundreds of erotica authors.

A good writer friend advised me once; it might not be FB at all. It could be a reader or writer that doesn’t like you and tattles to FB.  Maybe. But for me, I carry it as a badge of honor.  So until later today, if I don’t respond on FB don’t worry I will survive on bread and water.

The other news is that I have decided to change my decision. I will put aside the non-Dark Desire story and write book five that will lead to a book six.  The title of book five is Facade’s Soul of Darkness. I have outlined it, started writing it and probably be out first of October. DD%

The reason behind my going forward is that Jocelyn’s story isn’t finished. She faces a new battle. It’s not Devin, nor her flaws. But a battle of heart versus lust.  I couldn’t in good conscience let it linger till the fall. So onward we go.

The other big news is that I have released a box set of Dark Desire Series, all four books. It retails for $2.99. It is available at all retailers: Amazon  https://amzn.com/B01KISQVF6

As other books are published, I will add them to the box set.

This Saturday on the 20th, at 4:00 pm I will be hosting for an hour at an FB Authors Take Over. It will be K.L. Humphrey’s Deadly Hunt Release party. So come by. Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/events/28253...

That is it for this week. Thanks again for all your support!

Elfina Renee I'm one of those howling banshees when it comes to censorship. Then again I remember a time when the internet didn't have it. Talking about missing the good old days. Anyway, I'm sorry this has happened to you and have a possible suggestion, not that it will do any good but I'd post a notice on your page reminding readers and fans about tattling and how your site is intended for whatever age you have deemed. Those who are interested in stirring up trouble (tattling) or caught doing so are not only invited to leave but can and will be removed from group or something to that affect. Like I said I hate censorship, whether it happens there, here or Amazon.

Eifina,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I will do that tomorrow at my next Take Over.

I have been in the FB clink before, and it seems of late they are doing one of their sweeps. Other authors I know are getting the 24-hour detention.

I agree it is a form of censorship, but I also understand their point of view. FB has an open platform, and it is almost impossible to stop underage eyes from accessing public venues like a Take Over.

As an erotica writer, you learn soon that you are a pariah within the publishing industry. You're shunned from advertising on FB, Amazon, and Twitter. Only here at GoodReads can you do any, and honestly their program is not the best. Then you have to live with the arbitrary censorship.

Again, I do appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks, Carol and that is a shame about your daughter. I think there are those out there that like to play God.
