Paying to Give It Away

Promotion is such a strange game. From now through Sunday (August 14th), I am actually paying to give my book away.

I’ve done quite a bit to promote Goodnight Sunshine. Not a lotby modern marketing standards, but I’ve done what I can with the time and resources I have. Now I’m trying something strange: paying to advertise that I’m giving away my e-book on Amazon. And the bestpart … I had to convince a reputable advertiser to take my money to tell people about the giveaway!

A.K. White Hi Mark,
I recently saw your book down a Village Books in Steveston (Richmond). I'll go grab a copy from Ron and Angela, read it, and write you up an honest review for Goodreads and Amazon! Have you done a Goodreads giveaway yet?

Mark Cameron Hi A.K.
Thanks for letting me know this. I'm glad to hear that Goodnight Sunshine is appearing in places I wasn't aware of. I appreciate your offer to read and (honestly) review it!
I haven't done a Goodreads giveaway yet. Have you?
I would like to read your book as well. Where/how can I buy it?
Cheers,
Mark

A.K. White I enjoyed the Goodreads giveaway and ran it twice. You can get No Reason To Stay on Amazon (Kindle or paperback) or your library can request it from VPL. I only have it in stores in the Vancouver area at this time. I'm excited to read your novel, Mark. It sounds so interesting and it must be good, landing on the list for the Whistler Indie book award!

Mark Cameron I just ordered No Reason to Stay from Amazon. This will be my first Kindle read! I'm trying to embrace the e-book (though paper is my first love when it it comes to books).

I forgot that I did run a Goodreads giveaway for a physical book. I haven't done a Goodreads e-book giveaway yet, but plan to do both in the near future.

I hope you enjoy Goodnight Sunshine! The nomination was nice, but I make no assumptions that one person's stamp of approval will mean others will like it. :)
