atypical:: D.L. Mayfield

This week I talk with author and self-described “irritant in the oyster of my world”, D.L. Mayfield, about her life alongside Somali refugees as well as the current political climate surrounding refugees.

D.L. lives and writes in Portland, OR with her husband and two small children. Mayfield likes to write about refugees, theology, and downward mobility, among other topics. Her book of essays, Assimilate or Go Home: Notes from a Failed Missionary releases in August 2016.
