Controlled substances for dogs

That's exactly what it sounds like. I got poor Damsel's teeth cleaned (finally) and of course, being so tiny, she got trachyitis in the process - though nobody told me that was normal and expected. So it was sort of scary hearing her cough and cough and cough at 2 a.m.  I took her back to the vet, who said, "No, it's normal, she'll cough for about another day or two," and gave her some meds... which I had to sign for, because they contained a "controlled substance."

I suppose there are folks who'd take their dog's opiates. I just hadn't thought of it in those terms.

Another day of adding sheets of paper to the pile, and of working out for myself how Lydia WOULD behave, if Asher were believed to be dead?
