Goodreads New Homepage Layout

So I took the survey about how I liked the new homepage ... which is now junked up so much that there is no way your eye knows where to focus.

Interestingly, there was never a place where you could give them your overall impression. It was all strictly controlled. Which often means, according to my decades of advertising experience, they don't really want to know.

Audrey I don't like it either! It feels cheaper and more commercial. What happened to the quote of the day and polls? Why am I now getting random advertisements for non-book-related things all over my feed? It used to at least be focused advertising. Very frustrating. I wish there was a way to opt out. I don't find it any faster to load either.

aprille This new layout on top of their existing issues has done it for me. I'm done with Goodreads.

I agree with what you said about the survey. It might as well have been:
"Do you like the new site?"

"But how much do you like the new site?"

It's as if they got whoever designed the Amazon page to do this one. And Amazon has never asked but it looks as if someone vomited sales offers all over it. No focus for the eye, nothing attractive.

They made it really difficult to read the one thing I consistently want, which is the connection with what my friends are reading ... THE REASON FOR THE SITE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
