Hi! Just saw Amanda tweeting about 's 4 not being her last one, with the golden wrap only referring to series 4. I'm so afraid Mary will be in series 5 and she will still be with John and all :-(((

Whatever you feel about the character of Mary, Amanda didn’t actually say that s4 isn’t going to be her last series on the show. Nor did she say it is. She just clarified that her earlier tweet referred specifically to wrapping on s4. 

When entertainment news articles start speculating that you’ve given away that this series is your character’s last on the show, you have to do a bit of damage control. I think Amanda came back to clarify that she was talking about s4 to put an end to the speculation that she gave away the plot. You can still speculate about whether or not this will be her last series–she didn’t say oh yes I’m definitely back for s5. S4 could absolutely be her last, or it could not; her tweets don’t rule out either possibility.

And like Steven joked during SDCC last weekend, we’re operating under the assumption that any of them survive the series, lol. Honestly, for all we know, anyone saying that they’ve wrapped for s4 could mean they’re done on the show forever. That goes for Amanda, Mark, Loo, Rupert, Una, anyone. We won’t know who survives the series until it airs. (And even then, Andrew Scott still keeps popping up, so who even knows how many times characters could disappear and later re-appear on this show?) So regardless of how you feel about Amanda and Mary, I don’t think her tweets really tell us anything at all about her future on the show, one way or the other.
