So while writing my thesis I came across this amazing scientist named Polly Matzinger. 

She was the first to suggest the ‘Danger Model’ by which the immune system distinguishes dangerous antigens from innocuous ones. Pretty important stuff. Basically how the whole immune system works. 

So she submitted a single author paper on it, and it was rejected because they said there was no way she did the work on her own. 

So she resubmitted it putting her Afghan Hound, Galadriel Mirkwood, as second author and it was accepted and published.
