* several readers have told me that A FLOOD OF EVIL has given them important insights into Donald Trump’s campaign of anger and hate.

Hitler’s core strategy was to use fear and hate to attract angry, uneducated voters while providing no details of what he would actually do to correct Germany’s problems. Sound familiar? Many people in Germany in the early 1930s understood what Hitler was saying. Many of them however, including leading conservative politicians, businessmen and the military, believed […]

Nancy I think politics should be left out of the Goodreads arena. We all can identify bad behaviors and beliefs with those we dislike. I for one, have been appalled with our current leader's lack of care and concern to Israel for the past 7.5 years. And his use of children in his campaigns against his party's opponents is quit Hilter-esk. Just saying we can all see what we want to see, believe what we want to believe, but it shouldn't be on Goodreads.

Lewis Weinstein Thanks for expressing your view.

Judy I agree with Nancy about leaving politics out of Goodreads discussions. That is the very reason I quit going to Facebook; however that is a more reasonable place for such discussions. Goodreads is about books.

Lewis Weinstein I did not post this on Goodreads, but rather on my author blog, which (as I understand it) goes automatically only to my Goodreads friends. The post itself is a reflection of what readers have said about my book, which I believe is very much what Goodreads is all about. I believe I have written a historical novel which turns out to have great relevance today. I'm sorry if this offended you. Thank you for enjoying A FLOOD OF EVIL.

NANCY ... Thank you. I hope I have not offended you ... LEW

Linda C This is Lew's page and, frankly, he is nicer to some of you than I would have been. Why do people feel that their views are so much more important than the writer of the post. I would have said that you are free to post your views on your page and I will continue to post what I want on mine. Instead, he apologized for offending you. If you don't like his post then don't read it. Easy peasy.

My point is that my description of how Hitler came to power in 1933 has struck some readers as startlingly similar to the techniques being used by Donald Trump in 2016. I agree with that characterization and posted it on my author blog. I think anyone who reads A FLOOD OF EVIL and is following the presidential campaign will see the model Trump is following.

Lewis Weinstein By the way, I researched and wrote A FLOOD OF EVIL before Donald Trump came on to the American scene. His actions have created the comparison, not my writing.

Judy Lewis, I meant no reflection on your writing. I always enjoy your remarks and reviews on books. I didn't even notice that the post was on your blog. It shows up as a post from you as a friend. This year the entire political scene is so upsetting to me. I'd like to forget it. One of the reasons I read is to escape--I admit it.

I did not know that my blog posts are not identified as such by Goodreads. They should correct that so the source is clear.

The error was mine. I just didn't read what the source was.
