Statement of Purpose

De mortuis nihil nisi bonum: “Nothing but good of the dead.” Okay, but what about the living? Nothing but good of them, too? Smile politely? Endure? Never. That would be weak. And it would kill the Internet.

“What a preposterous ottoman!” I could tell you what that title means. Except I can’t. Every single word of the original offending sentence has been changed to protect someone living or dead or both.

In line with the above, this blog will treat what is best said, how it is best said, and what and who are best left alone. Sometimes, the jumping off point will be literature. Sometimes, it will be politics, culture, daily life, or a memory.

Pull up a chair. Or an ottoman. Just be careful. It rolls.
