Flawed characters

My characters are flawed. They make mistakes. They hurt others. They hurt themselves. They struggle to absorb the consequences of their actions and to make things right. 

I'm drawn to writing them because all their complicated messiness feels real and right - even if I also love to put them into ultra glamorous settings!

The thing with embracing characters' less attractive sides is that it means readers might not love them as much as I do. They might not feel the same attachment I do. I'll just have to hope that readers of Tangled Up In You and Playing At Love give the characters a chance to figure themselves out, because just as in life, it will take them many trials and errors before they do!
