Interview with S K Gregory
Tell us about your publishing journey…
I have been writing from a young age and I did send out a couple of manuscripts as a teenager. They were rejected of course because they were nowhere near good enough. I started learning about editing, writing better dialogue etc, and when I sent out Daemon Persuasion in 2012 – it was accepted for publication. It was very exciting and I have worked hard since to keep that momentum going.
What inspired you to write this book?
I was taking part in NaNoWriMo and I was late starting. This book was something that I started writing and then I got stuck a few chapters in. Once I had the deadline pushing me, the idea developed and I finished by early December. I wanted to write an action book with a strong female lead.
What do you love about writing?
I love when the story flows and takes on a life of its own. When I am no longer leading the characters but they are leading me. Many times I will have an outline in my head, but the
n I’ll be writing and I’ll think – no, that character wouldn’t do that or say that.
If you had a time machine, which era would you go to and why?
Maybe the 1920’s. I liked the fashion back then.
If you could be any supernatural creature, what would you be and why?
A werewolf. I have always been a fan of werewolves and I imagine they would be very fast and strong.
In a fire, what 3 things would you rescue?
My laptop, my favorite books and family photos.
What are you working on now?
I am working on Daemon Battle, the third book in the series which is due out in September.
