A shock to no one: Chris Christie is being vetted for Trump’s VP, reports say

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is one step closer to joining the ticket with GOP nominee Donald Trump.
CNN reported Thursday that, according to a source, “Christie had received the official paperwork for the vetting process.”
Christie — whose approval rating in his state hit rock-bottom after he exited the Republican primary race — endorsed Trump in late-February and e-famously stood behind the bronzed and coiffed real estate mogul during his Super Tuesday celebratory press conference in early March.
The potential running mates have apparently done a lot to mend their rifted 14-year relationship after months of primary bickering. Among other attacks along the campaign trail, Christie said Trump’s proposed wall on the Mexico border (and funded by Mexico, of course) “makes no sense.”
For his part, Trump repeatedly trashed Christie’s handling of the New Jersey economy:

However, as The New York Times noted Thursday, “Four months after endorsing Mr. Trump, Mr. Christie remains one of the few major figures in the Republican establishment to align himself entirely with Mr. Trump’s candidacy.”
As head of Trump’s “transition efforts,” Christie, the Times added, “has taken a role that some of his allies liken to that of a White House chief of staff, soliciting views on what a potential Trump administration should look like.”
Other GOP-ers eyeing the vice-presidency include 2016 candidate Dr. Ben Carson, former-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and — God forbid — former-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
