What will be the turning of this tide? When will we stop waking...

What will be the turning of this tide? When will we stop waking up to news headlines of terrorist acts, of body counts, of frantic victims walking through broken glass and pieces of people spread like confetti, left behind like litter? When did hate leak in and saturate so many souls, when did we forget how to love first and stop expecting everyone to be the same as we are? When is enough enough? I am heartbroken, again, and so tired of seeing what human beings can do to one another, what we can put each other through. I am heartbroken but I refuse to believe we are too far gone. I refuse to believe we are hopeless and past the point of no return. We are creatures built to love, from the moment of our birth, and it need not vanish, it need not rise from us like smoke, it need not crumble like glass and spill like blood. We are here, together, and I tell you now there are more of us than there are of them. Let us melt together in this sadness and become defiant in the face of evil, let us lend out light to one another, everywhere, and let it shine the darkness out. There is hope, still, and we are it.
