America and guns: now that’s a complicated relationship status.

It isn’t easy here, being an American. You don’t understand the gun thing. It’s part of the cultural identity, like England and tea, Italy and pasta, France and being a giant pussy, Russia and vodka, Scandinavia and suicide, China and chopsticks.

We all have our vices, even as nations.

People point out that they had a mass shooting in Australia one time and BOOP! all kinds of new guns laws and bans came into being. Why can’t or won’t that happen in America?

Why? I’ll tell you why: because it can’t and won’t.

When it comes to guns and the U.S., we are dealing with a completely unique situation not seen or experienced or even understood in any other country on the globe.

We, as Americans, are either fucked or we will navigate our way through this. But banning guns, or even limiting them meaningfully, will never happen without a full scale violent revolution. Good or bad, right or wrong a significant portion of the American populace is going to be well-armed, now and in the future.

So tell me, what in God’s name can we possibly do?
