Why does part of the Arrow fandom insist Gail Simone is unemployed? Are you guys talking about how she was fired and immediately rehired on Batgirl…? Years ago?
Unemployed? Hasn’t found work since? I’m not going to list the works she’s had since finishing Batgirl, because you can google that… but come on. Clean Room - the critically acclaimed Clean Room? Red Sonja?
Come on, guys. Lady ain’t hurtin’ for work or recognition.
Heh.
Well, yeah, for some reason, a few of these Olicity people have it stuck in their heads that I am unemployed or hurting for work, because I was briefly fired from Batgirl a couple years ago. Never mind that I was hired right back two days later, and quit of my own accord a few months after that.
The truth is, I have far more work than I can possibly handle, and way more job offers than I can even consider. My pro friends make fun of me because offers come in almost daily and I spend a LOT of my time writing gracious letters telling publishers I can’t accept their job.
Right now, I am working on five monthly books, two video games, several short stories, a prose work, and more. This is a ridiculous amount of work, and it doesn’t include two projects I have committed to but not started yet.
On top of that, I have been asked to write television episodes and several other special projects I can’t yet mention.
The list of projects I CAN’T do, due to time, is enormous. But there is virtually no large or medium sized publisher in comics that hasn’t offered me work this year, without me soliciting it, and that’s JUST comics.
So, you know, whatever, Olicity fans. Keep believing the weirdness!
