Yes, will announce it here, on FB, website and so on. Just heard from the audio producers, and it looks like it'll be out sometime in August, depending on scheduling (the narrator's currently doing another project, unfortunately).

Bobby Hardenbrook Ah, thanks for the info. I'll probably just read it the old fashioned way then ;)

Vernon D Just wondering, if you can warp catapult troops onto an enemy vessel, why not send a warhead instead? Hey, great book 2.

The main reason is that you need an intelligent being to come out of the other side of a warp 'tunnel.' A suicide bomber is theoretically possible, but every time it's been tried (usually during desperate situations where they strapped a bomb on a volunteer when a ship was about to be destroyed anyway), the bomber never made it out of warp. Nobody is sure why, except that knowing you are going to die may somehow make you vulnerable while inside warp space. The psychological elements of warp travel are still poorly understood even by the most advanced Starfarer species.

This theory has come into question after the successful ramming maneuvers at the Battle of Melendez, where at least the warp navigators in those ships knowingly performed a suicidal maneuver, but the fact remains that attempts to deliver WMDs via warp fail.

Ah,but don't you send unmaned message probes through warp?

Vernon D Ok, no you don't, you use manned corvettes. So warp technology is exactly like Dune (without the worms). Interesting concept. I'm looking forward to the continuing series.

Vernon D Ok, here's another idea. Since the Lampreys have schemed a way to detect and destroy fighters, why not have them carry limpet mines instead of cannons. They could stand off out of range, match the trajectory and velocity of their targets and just warp next to them, release tbeir mines and warp away.

Just read the book again; Book 3 in December, January time frame maybe? (No pressure.)

There will be lots of countermeasures and new systems tried by both sides. To say more might be considered a spoiler :)

If everything goes as planned, Book Three will be out in Nov-Dec. So far nothing has gone as planned, but maybe this time will be different.
