Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
This month, I’m continuing to share excerpts from BRYCE: Galactic Defenders Book One. Edits are finished for this story, and I’m working on formatting this one, as well as updating the front and back matter of a couple other stories. Might as well do it all at once. This excerpt follows immediately from last week, and you get to meet a new character. There has been some cutting and creative rearranging to fit this snippet into the allotted ten sentences.
A Terran man appeared in the doorway of the house and surveyed the property before his eyes focused on Bryce. “Lindsay, what the hell…who is that guy?”
“Go back inside, Quinn.” She held her hand in front of her, slowly heading toward the other man. “It’s not safe out here.”
“I’m not going anywhere until—”
An Erebus leaped over the hedges, landing mere feet from the man. With one swipe of a tentacle, the Erebus knocked Bryce onto his back. He grabbed his bow from the ground beside him, loaded an arrow, and shot, but too late. The alien mauled Quinn, its poisonous saliva filling the Terran’s mouth.
