Should Math Be Taught in Schools?

((Sad to say, this parody is hardly exaggerated at all. A few of the answers are almost verbatim to the actual answers of the Miss USA contestants to "Should Evolution Be Taught in Schools." Go watch that video on YouTube and see for yourself)).

(((There are days I think I am living in the world of Kornbluth's "Marching Morons." Just look at reality TV, and remember the hit show in his story)))

(((I am vastly pleased that the eventual Miss USA winner, and GAME OF THRONES fan, does "believe in evolution." And presuambly in math as well))).

Gregory Cox Indeed, sir. And let us all pray for the rise of the intelligentsia once again.

Glynn As a person who is currently studying to teach both Chemistry and Physics (both heavy on the math), I can only say "Here, here!" to my favorite fantasy author. Keep up the good fight! Thank you for using the attention you are current getting to back up those, like me, who would see the next generation get a leg-up on the science/math thing.

I won't forget the softer sciences, though. I come from a family of English teachers and appreciators of all things literate (my beautiful girlfriend is no exception to this being a classical intellectual who is currently starting grad school in physics who is no less rigorous in her taste in the literary).

All hail intellectualism! May we never say "math is hard," but, instead, strive to find the places where we don't understand!
