PORCELAIN IS GENDERFLUID AND LIFE IS GOOD

Fun story: My fiance and I met Gail Simone at a Portland TFAW signing a few months ago (along with some other amazing comic book writers and artists that for the life of me I can’t remember the names of, I’m sorry!!) and once it came to our turn I pretty much did everything but cry to Gail about Porcelain, about how as a genderfluid person myself I was excited I was to finally see some good and accurate genderfluid representation in comics. I felt dumb, but it needed to be said and she was the only person I could say it to.

So, again, Gail. If you’re reading this, thank you. Thank you so, so much for this character. They mean so much to all the fans of comics that identify as genderfluid, and thank you even more for having their team (or whatever you’d like to call them) be so accepting. You’re the greatest, and we appreciate every single panel in which Porcelain features.

I remember you both very well, and thank you so much for the kind words!

Like a lot of people, I didn’t have a lot of understanding from my family growing up, and so I am glad that some people can get that feeling from comics. Lots of different kinds of heroism in the comics that meant the most to me growing up…that’s the kind I want to make!
