So I know I’m about three years behind, but I finally got to X-Treme X-Men on my reading list and am now basking in the gay Wolverine and Hercules relationship. (I’m still not very far in, please don’t spoil me!)

One thing I didn’t realize was that the writer of X-Treme X-Men, Greg Pak, also wrote the Incredible Hercules series (which I also thoroughly enjoyed). So that really lends an air of… authenticity to all this? Like, this isn’t some hack storyteller coming in and futzing around, this is Marvel’s main Hercules writer deciding to do a gay version of the character, and then make it awesome.

Another thing I love is the really subtle changes that happen in Howlett as soon as Hercules shows up. Like, as soon as he gets over the initial shock he’s all of a sudden smiling a lot. Hercules is making him laugh. He’s acting slightly more reckless, more unrestrained, letting loose a bit–to impress his bf? because he feels like he can be more himself now? But he’s not that grim dark broody guy anymore. He’s had this unexpected reunion, and you can tell it’s the best thing that’s happened to him in such a long time, and just asdfghjkl

I really like gay Wolverine and Hercules.
