Further Musings on Character Development

If there's one thing I've learned over the course of my writing career, it's to always allow the characters I create to evolve on their own.

What do I mean by that?

Quite simply, I mean that while you should always have a general idea in mind for the character you're creating, you shouldn't set anything in stone right off the bat.

Why?

Because you're just getting to know that particular character. You're still feeling him or her out and getting to know their quirks and the subtle nuances tha...
