ANNUAL BLOG POST PART ONE (Stroppy, Shit From An Old Notebook, etc...)

Yes, it 's that time again. We are early this year for the  Marc Bell DEPT  annual Blog Post! Woa boy, things have happened. This is not in chronological order!




Item: I made a comic strip for Double Nickles Forever, a comic book tribute to the Minutemen's classic Double Nickels on the Dime L.P.

As it happens, Los Tres Chifaldos performed the LP in it's entirety from start to finish...(celebrating the 30 year anniversary) "All the tracks, including the bonus tracks!!" At Wheelies Motorcycles?? Nice, b'ys. And a t-shirt was made for the occasion (shown above) with a panel from my strip, all proceeds (profits) go the International Bird Rescue of San Pedro.




Item: Went to Dawson City, Yukon. Made some stuff, including an intaglio print with Paul Hammond and Seth Smith. Printed by New Leaf Editions. This has not been "editioned" (numbered and signed) yet, but it will be. I think that is one of Sharkey's cat hairs on there. Her new spot is the top of the scanner. Who cares!




Item: I have some stuff in the new issue of SMOKE SIGNAL which features a great fold-in cover from Al Jaffee!


Item: Speaking of t-shirts, I am finished my all new "graphic novel" called Stroppy , published by Drawn & Quarterly. Above is one of the many colourful and eventful panels contained within. This book is due in stores in June, 2015. But: if you are at TCAF 2015 it will be launched there in a limited supply! I am very excited about all of this, I hope you are too, dear reader of this BLOG.




Item: I went to Russia via Finland! A guest of Boomfest! Very cool. Here I am at the end of my trip looking at what I am returning with: some leftover rubles and an inflight magazine featuring Moomin Weddings. You know who this stuff is for? Not the Queen of England that is for sure! Who do you think I am??

I walked around the Hermitage.




I did not go inside the Hermitage (long line-ups) but I walked around the perimeter. I spotted an interesting looking underground passageway but was stopped by a large Russian man. I couldn't understand him but I took his crossed arms to mean "get the hell out of here, hoser".

Anyway, perhaps in part two I will show you some photos I took of the incredible drain pipes I saw in the Russian Federation.
