Why I put the Sheikh in Select, and what to do if you want an ePub
Hi guys! Just wanted to write a quick explanatory note. I just took SOLD TO THE SHEIKH down from every retailer except Amazon, and popped the Sheikh into the Amazon KDP Select program, which requires exclusivity for 90 days. I know this can be super annoying for people who don't prefer to shop for ebooks at Amazon, so I figured I'd explain, and let you know that I want to figure out a way for people who need epubs to get epubs, and how to find out as soon as the next book is out so you can get it at your preferred retailer. (I'll let people know about that through my New Releases mailing list.)
The short version is: the Sheikh wasn't really selling anywhere else, and the Select program offers a way to get greater visibility within Amazon. I figure if I can significantly grow my Amazon audience that way for the next 90 days, I'll still be in a better position to relaunch at other retailers when the 90 day exclusive period is up. Just to give you an idea of the numbers...so far in December, my non-Amazon Sheikh sales are, um, less than 3.5% of my Amazon Sheikh sales. That's all of my non-Amazon sales *combined*. The Sheikh has done pretty well at Amazon without the help of Kindle Lending Library borrows (which count towards sales ranks), so I'm hoping with that with that added juice, he can get to the next level.
So my plan is to have the Sheikh in Select for 90 days. The way I interpret the Select ToS, if you buy a copy from Amazon and send me the receipt, I can convert the ebook and sending you whatever format you prefer -- I purposely don't put DRM on any of my books. So email me if this is your situation at chloecoxwrites at gmail dot com, and we'll figure it out.
TIED TO THE TYCOON is also coming out very soon, and I want everyone who bought the Sheikh to be able to buy the Tycoon if they want. So I think what I'll do is have the Tycoon up as many places as I can for the few days that I offer him at a reduced price for fans on my New Releases mailing list, and then I'll pull him and put him in Select, too. After that, I hope I don't need Select at all and can put all Club Volare books up everywhere, confident they'll find an audience. :)
So, if you're not on my New Releases mailing list already, sign up! I'll let you know as soon as the Tycoon is out. :)
