After a lengthy absence, I'm back on goodreads. I've been just a tad busy researching and writing my next book, The Race to the New World, and completing course work for my doctoral program in history at York University. A doctorate requires you to do an incredible amount of reading, and unfortunately there has been very little time for reading for pleasure.
For those of you interested, my major field of study is Canadian history. My secondary field is Aboriginal history, and my elective field is US history. My planned dissertation will examine "cryptohistory" of New World discovery and in particular the misappropriation of Indigenous evidence such as petroglyphs and pictographs in theories of pre-Columbus arrivals.
The world edition of The Race to the New World comes out in September with Palgrave Macmillan, with a Canadian edition to follow with Douglas & McIntyre in Spring 2012. I have created a dedicated website for the book that can be accessed through my main website, or go directly to
