Movie Rec!

This was an adorable comedy about a meddling mother who finds out her only son is gay and sets out to find him a good man. I really liked it and thought I would mention the movie here in case anyone else is in the mood for a lighthearted comedy ...

Rossy It's funny i had been looking for good m/m movies just now, and saw this post. Thanks for the rec, i'll see if amazon has it for rent.

I just finished watching a movie called "From Beginning to End"; which is about two brothers. It has a HEA and it contains parental acceptance as well. Loved it, i'm going to buy the DVD. You can rent it here and see if you like it, pretty cheap: http://www.amazon.com/From-Beginning-...

Don't know if you've watched it, but it reminds me a bit of "Plan B", cinematographically.

Amanda That sounds good. I'll have to check out From Beginning to End. I haven't seen Plan B yet either. Thanks!

Mary Oh this is good, I been trying to get recs for glbt films w/HEA for awhile too. I own some titles: Love of Siam-nice ending but not the one I was expecting, Bangkok Love Story-this one is a tearjerker for me, and Latter Days-which I still consider one of my faves-has an HEA; but a lot of the films I've seen seem to have very sad endings.

Thanks! ;)

Amanda Latter Days is one of my favorites. It's a great movie.

Rossy I agree with you ladies about Latter Days, it was great. The others you mentioned Mary i have watched, and you're right there are no HEA there. I got so frustrated watching movie after movie that didn't end well, just because they were gay. I just had to go and search for some good ones. So that's what i have been doing lately, watching them every chance i get.

I watched Role/Play, which was ok but didn't make me want to go and buy the DVD. I really liked Big Eden though, and i have Violet Tendencies in queue for tonight.

Next i'll be watching Chef's Special and BearCity.

message 6: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Let me know how Violet Tendencies is, please. I have it on my wishlist, but I haven't bought it yet.

Mary Keep them coming Rossy, I gotta get me some good ones on my wishlist. :D

By any chance have you seen Is It Just Me? I've seen some good reviews but I'm undecided.

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I have a list on Amazon of all the gay-themed movies I enjoyed. It's here:

message 9: by Mary (new)

Mary Yes! Thanks Amanda. Just ordered From Beginning to End, but I'll check them out pronto. :)

Amanda You're welcome. Just beware there is one movie on my list with a bittersweet ending. I think it's called The Trip. Good movie, but yeah...bittersweet ending at best.

message 11: by Rossy (new)

Rossy Ah thanks for the heads up Amanda. I was wondering about The Trip. I'll let you know tomorrow how i liked VT, i'm about to go watch it now.

I'll check your list too Amanda, see which ones i want to keep on my wishlist or discard.

Oh i almost forgot. I bought Shelter also and really liked it, but it looks like you also saw it!LOL
Is there a way to see your ratings on those movies in your list. I only see the average rating...

message 12: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I didn't write reviews for them. Sadly, I stink at composing reviews.

If you want to know something in particular though, just shoot me a message. I'm always happy to talk about movies and books. :D

message 13: by Rossy (new)

Rossy I'll do that. Thanks!

BTW, i did watch VT and was not overly impressed. The acting didn't start well, and either i got used to it or it improved towards the middle.LOL
The plot, which was what interested me the most, was not well executed. So think of this one as greasy potato chips, for when you're in the mood for it.LOL

message 14: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Ah well... They can't all be good, I guess. I'll probably skip it. Thanks for the heads up!
