The Kindness of Strangers

Writing We are strangers to one another, writer and reader. I am the unknown author to you who has offered you a book to entertain or inform. You are the reader seeking any number of books to satisfy your reading appetite.

I, the writer, have spent lonely hours tapping out my thoughts simply to share with anyone willing to listen through reading. I have not known you but I have thought of you as I wrote, hoping to present you something worthy of your time and – maybe – your praise.

You, the reader, have sought a book for comfort, escape, entertainment or information. You’ve worked or wept or anything in-between but now you seek something to take you away from humdrum life or build onto you understanding of the world.

Reading Group Our time is precious, both writer and reader. The writer to squeeze time into words in a limited frame of years. The reader is willing to spend time reading but not waste time – or money – on a fruitless book.

But, we strangers do share our time in this world through books, a book written and read, thoughts shared in the impersonal, but intimate, compartment of a book. We cross paths made of words and become friends across the distance of a page yet never speak but still share what lies between the covers of a book. It is unique. It is wondrous. It is to be chosen carefully, my words and your reading. May we meet across on pages and share the gamut of all a chosen book can convey and be changed by one another in the passage of time – writing and reading – and no longer be kind strangers but comrades on the journey of our days.

About the Author

P. H. Solomon lives in the greater Birmingham, AL area where he strongly dislikes yard work and sanding the deck rail. However, he performs these duties to maintain a nice home for his loved ones as well as the family’s German Shepherds. In his spare time, P. H. rides herd as a Computer Whisperer on large computers called servers (harmonica not required). Additionally, he enjoys reading, running, most sports and fantasy football. Having a degree in Anthropology, he also has a wide array of more “serious” interests in addition to working regularly to hone his writing. The Bow of Destiny is his first novel-length title with more soon to come.
