Dorothy Uhnak once told me she thought writers should keep a few irons in the fire. Well, I've written the first book of a possible new private investigator mystery series, and I've been editing it while I've promoted
Lake Charles. Will the new PI series ever go prime time?
That's my eventual aim. But...all I can really say is the two protagonists are a father-daughter team. Getting their voices calibrated right is giving me duck fits. Sooner hopefully than later in my roundabout way I'll feel the characters and story hang together well enough for presentation to publish.
As I've said before, I do multiple rounds of edits. That's how the writing process works for me. So, I'll probably set the father-daughter project aside again and return for my next go at editing it. The image I conjure is a lathe taking different runs at shaping a hunk of steel.
