It's Thursday Already!

How does a week go by so quickly? And why am I surprised it's already blog time again? I really liked our blogs this week on where we buy books, cheating and pizza! What's left? I wondered that out loud on Twitter.

And a wise person said: " @carlyphillips nothing to say?? You could talk about this..the life of a writer..deadlines etc that pop up on you,short term writers block!" You know who you are. I didn't get permission to post your name, so I won't Feel free to comment and claim that Tweet if you want, LOL.

So okay here goes – It's June. For those of you with kids, that means you are busy with end of the year things, running said kids around after school, doctors, problems, appointments. For me as a writer, that means deadlines. I'm working on Serendipity 3 aka KARMA … and I love how it's taken an unexpected turn. Of course said turn came after a 2 week block. I kid you not. Couldn't write one scene. Tried in both characters points of view. Nada. Lay down in bed, shut my eyes and tried to visualize (usually works). Nada. Just faced with dreaded blank screen. So one morning, I sent out a Tweet – does anyone want to "sprint" with me – which translates – does another writer want to write for an uninterrupted span of time – we say GO! And no email, no internet, no Twitter. LOL. Megan Hart wanted to play. We did. An hour and a half later, I pushed through the scene, came up with a twist, and bam the block was over. Why now? Why did I lose all that time? I tell myself that I couldn't have written that scene before – I wasn't ready – something must have clicked in my brain AT THAT MOMENT and I spit it out. Yep. That's my process and it's damned ugly!

Now I go forward. Except … where am I going? Yep, here we go again.

And THAT folks, is the life of THIS writer. And you thought it was glamorous?
