Attention span of a gnat

Husband is peacefully watching TV. I burst into the room.

Me: For years I've been saying that I have the attention span of a gnat to mean I have no focus but it just occurred to me that that makes no sense. Gnats have laser focus! They decide that they want to get into your eye and they just full on commit to that for the rest of the day.

Husband stares at me like he doesn't know who I even am for several long seconds. I nod to him and leave the room. We never speak of this...
