This is the last excerpt from A Kept Woman until September. I am taking a break to enjoy the summer. (I had to at least get you to her meeting with Derek.) Scene set -Arianne chats with Derek Davenport. She speaks first.

“Can I ask you why you are doing this? You are very handsome and could get any woman you wanted. You are well dressed so you must have a decent job. Stock broker or lawyer, I’d say.”“I was angry at the entire female race and drunk when I placed the ad. Then I forgot about it.” Derek rubbed his forehead. “When I checked it out there were too many replies. Being practical, I said one of those women has got to be better than all the others I’ve dated. I think I scanned through the first fifty and found you."
