Go Team Audio (+ a contest!)

June is audiobook month and I'm super excited to celebrate!  I couldn't be more thrilled that Listening Library released audio versions of all three of the books in my Forest of Hands and Teeth series.  It's super surreal to hear my words coming out of someone else's mouth -- I think it's the closest I've ever come to understanding how others interpret and internalize what I've written.

You can hear for yourself what I'm talking about!  Here's a sample from The Forest of Hands and Teeth:

Here's The Dead-Tossed Waves:

Here's The Dark and Hollow Places:

And to celebrate Audiobooks month I'm giving some away!  To enter just comment on this post (and if you're looking for something to comment about I'd love to know what your favorite audiobook is and/or where you tend to listen to audiobooks).  I'll be picking winners with a random number generator on Friday, June 10th.  You get an extra entry for tweeting or facebooking about this contest (don't forget to comment letting me know about your tweet or facebook entry).  The prizes: I'll be giving away a copy of each of my audiobooks.

Happy Audiobook Month!!

Megan Millisor I would love having your books on audio book! My personal favorite audio books are the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer. They are always exciting and have caused me to be late to many things because of not wanting to get out of the car. The narrator is simply amazing and does an excellent job at portraying multiple accents. Even her men are convincing (which sometimes is not the case with female narrators).

Thanks for the awesome contest. And ya know for all the really amazing books.

Ariel My favorite audiobook has to be the Inkheart series. My daughter and I listened to all three of them. Twice. And it was wonderful, especially the first one read by Lynn Redgrave. We also just recently listened to Once Upon a Time in the North by Philip Pullman, which was extraordinary. We listen in the car, which means that if something exciting is happening in our story, we sit in the driveway for a while before going inside. Sometimes quite a while.

I love your books and have successfully preached the gospel of your writing to many young men in Newark, NJ, where I am a school librarian. I would love to have the new one on audiobook!

Morgan I am very curious about what your audiobooks would be like to listen to. The stories are just so intense, I imagine that listening to them would be a whole different experience than reading them. I ride the bus a lot, yet get motion sickness, so a good audiobook would be nice.

Emery My mom and I drive all up and down the East Coast visiting relatives. So for the six hour drive to Maryland and ten hour drive to Florida, she always checks two or three audiobooks out of the local library. My favorite was An Abundance of Katherines, by John Green.

We'll have driven to Pennsylvania and back by the time the winners get their audiobooks, but it would be nice to have something stowed away to look forward to for next year's drive. =)

HeatherH I use audia books while working out. I get too easily distracted with music, but listening to my favorite books? Perfection!
