Hacked

It looks like my account was hacked. I woke up this morning to find, suddenly, over 300 blog posts here, when previously there had been one. The blog posts were all some kind of feed from the Opera (the browser people) website. The latest of them actually seemed to be promoting the 'internet of things' (something I loathe) as a positive development. For future reference, if there are any blog posts here promoting products, services or technology, they have not been written by me. It's possible that I'll start a blog again at some future date, but probably not here. Thanks.

Some quick links (which I might update later):

Recent note in my notebook:

"The negative aim of modernity is to persuade one to mistrust oneself."

I remember the Opera people having an entire fake blog on their site attributed to you. For years! It was madness.

Janie I didn't think that "The Internet of Things" sounded like something you would write.

Quentin Crisp Hello.

I've had an answer from Goodreads regarding what might have happened. It looks like I haven't been hacked, but that (probably) a librarian linked the Opera feed directly to my blog function here (presumably because I used to have a blog at Opera?).

Anyway, I have, myself, now removed all links from here to Opera that I am aware of.

P The old blog is at the Wayback Machine. Nice reading BTW:

And the Kindle version of Morbid Tales is very nice en totally worth the price!

Quentin Crisp Hello Petr.

Thanks for commenting. The blog also exists, I believe, at Vivaldi, to where it was transferred a day or two before the My Opera community was brought to an end.

I've just tried looking it up again and can't find anything that looks like the blog main page. Or, this is the closest:

Well, I last wrote my blog over three years ago now. I suppose it's not that long, really. Sometimes I feel like starting another one, but I have so much to do, anyway, and I know there were good reasons why I stopped, so, well, I am still undecided.

Thanks for buying Morbid Tales! I'm glad you liked it. I imagine one day there'll be a print reissue, too.
