A Tale of Two Anathemas

Yesterday morning, I received a notification from JacketFlap that my book trailer video was loaded in their database. I thought, "Great! I'll go check it out!" Low and behold, the trailer was there but linked to someone else's book! A book of the same name, Anathema.  So I sent a message to JacketFlap to inform them of the mistake. Then I decided I'd send a message to this 'Megg Jensen' person, just to give her the heads up.
Now, I wasn't sure what her response would be (she IS a natural redhead, after all...  :D ).  Megg responded almost immediately with nothing but humour and kind words, as well as a request for more info about my novel. We exchanged several messages back and forth - complimenting each other on our awesome book covers :-) and swapping Facebook and Twitter IDs.
Then Megg did what any normal super-powered hero would do (after throwing on a cape, of course): she tweeted about my upcoming book release to all her followers. Within minutes, I was connected with several new people, I had a book review lined up, and a nice bump in my website visit stats. Very cool.
This is a great example not only of the power of social media but of the network of amazing, supportive authors out there, willing to help each other promote their books.
I will be downloading a copy of Megg's book to read and I invite you all to do the same, especially since the second in the series, Oubliette, will be released in July.  She's getting a lot of great reviews! Here's her website: http://meggjensen.blogspot.com/

Check it out!
