In ASIP there are blatant mirrors in dialogue between Sherlock’s relationship with his brother and John’s relationship with his sister. “You’ve got a brother that’s worried about you but you won’t go to him for help” - “I worry about him… constantly”. “That says you’ve got problems with him” - “Archenemy”. In HLV we see that both Holmes brothers have tendencies to not realize they adjust the door knocker to 221b and in MHR we see John turns to hard alcohol when dealing with something emotionally difficult. Siblings are alike in many ways, after all. So considering back in ASIP Sherlock was so adamantly against considering himself “on the same side” as Mycroft, what “side” do you think John is adamant to reject regarding his sister and where he belongs in reference to her? I’ll leave you to your deductions.
