How long did it take you to write the book?

The concept for the novel had been bouncing around my head for about two years before I started to write.  I spent most of those two years researching the ideas for the events in the story.  Once I had the general story outlined I started writing.  It took about a year to write the novel and about five months of editing before the book was published.
