Pink Snowbunnies in Hell Flash Fiction Anthology - call for submissions!

Sometimes a thing snowballs, and you just gotta roll with it. I posted a comment in a thread in my writer forum about "I think pink snowbunnies will ski in hell first". A couple of hours later, one of our great resident book cover designers replied with the graphic below.

Pink Snowbunnies In Hell

It deserves a book, don't you think?

So, in honor of ditching my day job, and not letting what is apparently my one great line and Glendon's greater graphic languish in obscurity in a writer forum grammar thread, I'm going to sponsor a Pink Snowbunnies in Hell Flash-Fiction Anthology.

I'll pay to turn the bunny into a cover, and for editing, and take care of getting it assembled, formatted, and published. All proceeds donated to a charity of the contributing authors' choosing (I'm thinking it will go up as a $0.99 anthology, so it's definitely not about the money).

Submission Guidelines:

1) Flash Fiction - 100-1000 words
2) Must contain some variation of the suddenly famous "pink snowbunnies will ski in hell" phrase
3) Given the cover, humor would be great, and PG13 unless there's a dang good reason for crossing that line
4) Entries will be judged by a panel of at least three judges (for the good of writer community relations, I think I'll be keeping them anonymous)
5) Entry deadline, June 15
6) Email submissions in Word .doc format to deborageary@gmail.com

I'm hoping this sounds like fun, and not too much work. To get a sense of whether this is going to fly, can you reply below if you think you might be interested in submitting? Also, I'd love to encourage aspiring authors to give this a try :).

Mary Aris Does it have to be prose, or can I submit a poem? Does it have to have the line, "Pink bunnies will ski in Hell?"

I'd like to give it a go, just for the heck and fun of it. It's also a good writing excercise.

Debora Geary Poetry would be great, Mary! That's the line (or something similar, we're not being strict with this). And yeah, most of us are just having fun with it. That's why I picked the really short length.

Mary Aris Hi, Debbie:
Well, I just finished writing a 1,000 word Flash fiction titled, "Pink Snow Bunnies Will Ski in Hell" It was fun to write. I did incorporate a poem in this short story. I am about to E-mail it to you.

Thanks for the challenge!

Mary Aris Will you accept the story in PDF? Should I send it as a Word document or both?

message 5: by Debora (new)

Debora Geary Word doc, please :). And that's totally awesome! Note that I won't be reading them until I get mine done, but I can't wait to see what everyone is sending in.

message 6: by Mary (new)

Mary Aris Great! I've sent them both as a PDF and Word document. Please disregard the PDF copy, then.

Pat Amsden It sounds like fun. I'm in the middle of something else so I'll probably get it to you by the beginning of next weeks but that picture definitely deserves a book. Let's see if Pink Snowbunnies in Hell can take up from When Pigs Fly left off.

Debora Geary Awesome :).

Pat Amsden OK, what's happening with Pink Snowbunnies from hell? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Debora Geary :)... I'm compiling the stories and standardizing formatting this weekend. I hope to have it out to the judges by tonight. I'm not sure how long it will take them, but the book is scheduled for editing July 15, so sometime before then!
