Pyramids...

Ah, yes, there are all kinds of marketing scams and pyramid schemes, and several of my friends have been involved in them...

Once I had a NOT so HOT date with another Army ROTC cadet who took me to a free dinner--whoohoo! Sponsored by a pyramid scheme seller. Top dogs were top dogs because they enlisted lots and lots of "soldiers" to sell their products, and become managers by encouraging more wannabe top dogs to sell the products. Course, they had to buy the products too.

Okay, so my half sister was involved in some non approved stuff you drink and eat with everything. Yep. It was supposed to make you healthy, wealthy and wise.

Then my ex wanted to get involved with some pyramid scheme along with a couple of other doctors. No, I said.

Then my brother-in-law has been involved in tons of time-sharing properties.

And one friend was selling Mary-Kay, another Amway, another, not sure, and I get hit up with new ventures all the time.

So when my daughter calls me to tell me we're not going to pirate's day at the fair but to a cooking ware show for new brides or brides-to-be and we'll get free food, and she might get a trip somewhere for free, I was like wait! Stop the horses!

What do we really have here?

Hmmm, if we buy enough pots and pans that are soooo expensive, we could just put a down payment on a house instead, we could get a free trip--well, not a free trip, but a free hotel room. The cost of getting there and meals are on you. Yep.

Have you ever heard--if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is?

So after a very, very long talk, we're back on to rubbing elbows with the scurvy pirates this weekend! We'll get pots and pans and pay for our own excursions some other time--and some other place!

They're extremely motivational--but I'm sure there's something totally screwy with me. When I was sitting at this meal with my date, I was looking at all these eager faces, dollar signs in everyone's eyes, and I was thinking, am I the only one who isn't under the vampire's spell?

Must be because I have some wolf blood.
