The New and Improved Schedule

Well, whether you consider this an improved schedule or not is probably a matter of opinion. I don't even know if I consider it improved, I just know I needed to give myself a little more breathing room.

So without further fuss, here's what's lined up for the rest of the year.

DG4: Double Down (we had a title change on that one) releases September 13th from Loose Id.

The XO Files: Mummy Dearest releases September 30th from Samhain

My final Petit Mort story also releases sometime in September.

Lone Star part of a Christmas anthology with Harper Fox and KA Mitchell releases in December from Carina Press.

A Shot in the Dark 2: Blue Moon releases December 20th from Loose Id.

And that's pretty much it for this year. I know that's significantly reduced from what I'd hoped to do but it turns out that case of burn-out was a little worse than I thought. And while, ironically, I think I'm turning out some of my best work right now, it's a lot harder than it should be. Not that I subscribe to the idea that writing should be easy (U r doin' it rong!) but it shouldn't be painful. As in I think I sprained my brain.

So that's where we are. That's still six stories to come this year, so it's still a busy year for me -- and hopefully a reasonably satisfying year for you.

releases June 14th from Samhain.

Josh, I hope you know you have nothing to apologize for. Your writings seem like gifts from the gods, but you are only human, and subject to all the frailties that entails. No one expects you to be infallible.

Any true admirers of your work will be more than thrilled with however many new stories you release over the coming months. In any case, a revised schedule that still includes 6 offerings is nothing for you or your readers to be disappointed with. Just be sure to relax and enjoy the time you do spend writing.

Shadow Jubilee I'd much rather you enjoy your writing than feel stressed by it. I second what Susan said. You have nothing to apologize for. Please take the time to relax and get inspired.

Bren Christopher That still seems like a good number of releases to me. I haven't been reading this genre very long, so I've got a lot of your back titles to look forward to. In fact, I just started The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks and I can already tell I'm going to have to stay up late to finish it - it's your fault if I'm late to work tomorrow!
Please take it easy - writing may not be easy, but it should still be enjoyable.

I am squealing with glee just reading this list, you are incredibly prolific and aren't we lucky to get so much so often...time off is a very good thing when you need it...keeps your story making brain cells and your typing fingers happy!

And while, ironically, I think I'm turning out some of my best work right now, it's a lot harder than it should be.

What I've read from you so far this year has been exceptional, and I know what's upcoming will be too...I'm happy to wait patiently for your new stuff and in between there is quite a lot in my JL bookshelf that I will gladly revisit...That's what books you love are for right? To read again and again and again :O)

Jordan Lombard Josh, I second what everyone else is saying wholeheartedly! Six stories is a lot for some authors, and seems like a good number for us. I just got the first Holmes series book yesterday, so I'll be diving into that soon as well as a few other things, so no worries on us having a lack of things to read. Besides, I like rereading your work anyway because it's that good!

Take your much earned vacation and enjoy it!

message 6: by Meri (new)

Meri Amen to all the comments above. Take some time to breathe and enjoy your accomplishments! Anticipation is part of the joy your books bring because I know they will certainly be worth the wait.

message 7: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Corlies Well, I'm glad you are taking care of you by taking some pressure off the schedule!! My only complaint is that you say you are writing the "final Petit Mort." Oh no! I love these stories. But, since you are the artist, and therefore, the boss, I will just have to suck it up and get over it. LOL! Hope you take some time to do whatever relaxes you. All the best! Amanda

Thank you, Susan. I know a lot of the pressure is self-induced. So it's good to hear this reminder.

Thanks so much, Laura. I mean, I know it may not look like it, but it really is significantly reduced.

That's lovely. Thank you.

Jordan Lombard Josh, I'm not sure it's possible to read your books slowly. I finished the Death of a Pirate King, and thought I would hold off on Dark Tides for awhile, read a few books between them, make the series last... well, that lasted all of about an hour or two at most before I was diving into the last book, and I didn't take my nose out of it until I was finished with it at the end of the day!

I tried though. I really did!

It's Jordan's call, Amanda. I just get in the van when she tells me to. :-D Thanks for the kind words.

Jordan Lombard lol, we'll have to contact JCP then, and have a chat with her, tell her not to quit the series! I'm sure she'll listen to reason... lol.

I know the second Petit Morts book just came out in print, and I can't wait to read it!
