Carole Cummings Sometimes when I pick up a book I want to escape reality – totally and completely. Well written plots with believable, sympathetic characters are what I'm looking for. The rest is up to the writer's imagination. I just want to read a good story.

Yes. Exactly. Story--with a capital 'S'. It can be a sentient thing, when respected and handled right, when the author listens to the characters and follows their lead.

Great interview. (And I need to *hug* you some more.)
