I’ve been reading A Burglar’s Guide to the City by Geoff Manaugh, a great read and an impressive work of research. It reminded me of why I like urban apartment buildings—when I walk in wealthy suburbs, I’m always struck by how the design of the houses is based on the presumption that no one is going to try to break into them. But, as Manaugh shows, building security anywhere is an illusion. There are only varying levels of insecurity.
I’d say that’s true of everything.
