Sleep Paralysis
I've been watching those ghosty shows lately. Celebrity Ghost Stores, My Ghost Story, Your Momma's Ghost Story, etc, and a few of them have mentioned sleep paralysis. For those of you who have never experienced it, and there seem to be quite a few who haven't, count yourselves as lucky. Sleep paralysis is an altogether terrifying thing. You're awake, but you're not. You can't move. You can't scream. And all the while you have this feeling that someone is standing right there beside your bed, leering over you. Sometimes you even SEE someone or something. For me it was usually a tall dark mass. A guy I once dated who was into psychic practices and spiritualism told me that sleep paralysis sometimes happened when your body wakes up before your soul - which wanders when you sleep - is able to get back into the body. So the dark mass you see is, in essence, your own soul. If that's the case, my soul is a menacing bitch.
I used to have sleep paralysis all the time, but since I had my fall a few years ago I haven't experienced anything. Maybe my soul is refusing to travel until I start again. Damn, my soul is pushy, too!
I feel a story coming on...
