6. Waitress at a Korean Buffet

I have been previously told that it is good buffet etiquette to get a new plate instead of bringing a dirty plate to the shared food area and serving yourself more to eat.

A coworker and I went to a Korean buffet for lunch today. We had a really enjoyable first round of fatty kalbi and chap che and you had also just served us some misu soup which we hadn't touched yet. We got up to go get seconds so we left everything at the table and walked over to the area with the buffet line.

A couple minutes later, we had new plates brimming w ith food so we returned to our table…But our tables had been cleared of everything including our miso soups, utensils, and glasses of water! In fact, it was set up for 6 new restaurant guests although no one else was seated there yet. We looked carefully around the table to ensure that we had returned to the right place. I guess you thought that we had been leaving. We took our seats again, a little sad that our water and miso soup was gone, and continued eating.

A couple minutes later you came back with new miso soup(I saw you fill the bowls) and water for us. And you even took away the extra place settings.

I suppose that the buffet ettiquite does not apply to Korean restaurants? Either way, thanks! I really wanted that miso soup! :-D
