Pirate fact #5 – Tools of the trade

While the rapier or the broadsword could easily have been amongst the weapons of choice for others, pirates held to the cutlass as their go-to-blade.  The cutlass was short enough that swinging it wouldn’t get the weapon caught in a ship’s rigging.  It was long enough and sharp enough for hacking and slicing an opponent!
