Crashing into Love - Braced for Impact on Friday Snippets - one last time #FridaySnippets

We just pulled Crashing into Love from Amazon - but it's still on KU for a few weeks. I believe several of the authors are going to release their stories as single books. I have plans for Braced for Impact :-) Just have to get off my lazy butt and get to it.
So here is one last snippet from Crashing Into Love - Braced for Impact

Scene set - Paix and Guy are stranded on a tropical island. Her brother was killed in the plane crash - they are attempting to bury him. A wave just grabbed the brother's body and pulled it out to sea. Guy dove in to save it.



A wave rose in the distance and grew in size as it neared. It crested and crashed down onto the beach. The force of the water knocked her back. She scrambled up the dune and onto the cliff. No sign of Guy. Where was he? He couldn't die. Why was she so stupid? She should have listened. There was no way they could have buried her brother. But Guy didn't want to inflict any more pain on her so he tried to help. And now he was going to drown."Guy," she screamed into the wind. Raindrops slapped her cheeks. A gust of wind smacked her in the chest, knocking her back. She stumbled over a fallen tree and fell to the rain soaked ground. Dead leaves stuck to her skin. Rain dripped into her eyes. "Guy," she whimpered.A vicious crack snapped her senses alert. Slipping in the wet debris of dead leaves and branches, she struggled to sit up. She yelped when lightning flashed. The retort of thunder hurt her ears. She forced herself to stand. Gripping the trees and bushes she pulled herself to the edge of the cliff. The view before her was unidentifiable. The vast ocean she'd gazed upon was a monster writhing in anger. The beach where her brother had been - gone. The black lava mass - gone. With each new wave water crept up the side of the cliff, threatening to spill over.Nowhere could she see Guy. Her heart broke. He was lost. Because of her. A good man lost. He'd been her savior, showing her how to find and open coconuts for food and water, sharing his meagre supplies, keeping her spirit up with his playful personality. What she'd give to hear him drop an h and stick it on another word. And tell her she was très belle.She knew what she had to do. She had to survive this storm, get rescued and tell everyone Guy had done his job and died a noble death. He was a hero. He was her hero. She retreated from the shoreline to higher ground.She swiped water off her face. How to get back to the camp? There was no path. Guy led. She followed. She closed her eyes. Guy had told her that to return to the camp she had to keep the water to her left. She turned and pushed her way through the foliage, moving in the direction of the little stream.She wandered up the side of the hill until her legs ached, but couldn't find the stream. Frustrated, she shifted so the ocean was on her left and stumbled onward, hoping to find either the camp or shelter. Or Guy.

Crashing Into Love is a box set of 7 stories written by 6 spectacular authors and myself. Each story is based on an airplane crash, fight for survival and romance. The idea was the brain child of D'Ann Lindun and Brenda Dyer.
