With Cruz, Kasich Calling It Quits, Trump Focuses on Hillary

At this writing, we know that Ted Cruz has officially thrown in the towel as the results of the Indiana Republican primary became known, and it has just been announced that John Kasich is suspending his campaign, as well. The road is now clear for Donald Trump to march toward the nomination at what is now his partys convention in July.

What lies ahead for Trumpand for those Republicans who remain enthusiastic Trump supporters as well as those who will line up behind him in the interests of the partyis Hillary. Now that Trump has become the presumptive nominee, including by the admission of even his staunchest opponents within the party, he has quickly turned his attention to Clinton. In an exclusive interview provided to Breitbart News just as polls were closing in Indiana last night, Trump said that his two most pressing goals right now were unifying the GOP after a vicious primary campaign season has left it terribly fractured, and zeroing in on Hillary, described by Trump as the real enemy.

In his Breitbart interview, Trump said that a Clinton White House in this era would represent four more years of essentially Obama, and that the country could not survive that. Trump went on to say that historical Hillary positions in favor of what he described as bad trade deals, citing NAFTA and the Trans Pacific Partnership as examples, will come back to haunt her in the general election. Succinctly summarizing his view of his upcoming general election opponent, Trump told Breitbart, she cant beat me on jobs and the economy. She cant beat me on the border, she cant come close on the border. She cant beat me on the military.

As for his selection of a running mate, Trump, whose success this season has been largely based on a melding of outsider-populism appeal with a business reputation seen by many as the key to finally revitalizing the U.S. economy, indicated that he would not select another outsider as his running mate; Trump told Breitbart that he would, instead, choose a political person who would be expert at working with Congress and be a strong instrument to help get things done, get things passed

The Trump-Hillary showdown is basically upon us. Hang on to your hats, folks.
