Toddlers

They're bloody hard to deal with, aren't they? Sometimes you think they are the best thing in the world, you love them unconditionally and you can't imagine that they would ever do anything wrong.

Sometimes they amaze you. They do the most remarkable things, often when you least expect them to. You can't help but smile.

At other times, though, they are a complete and utter pain in the arse. They won't do what you want them to, they won't do it when you want them to and nothing you can do or say, no matter how often you scream and yell, will make a blind bit of difference.

And they don't just break your heart. They absolutely crush it, break it into little pieces like a human cardiac arrest. Sometimes it is for good reasons, when they are so wonderful that you adore them so much it hurts. And more often when they are unaccountably bad, when they just refuse to learn from their past mistakes and keep doing the same effing stupid thing time and time again.

But that's enough about the South African cricket team, and I've run out of space to write about toddlers.
