2011 Events and Appearances

Even though I love going to conventions, this year I need to take extra care as I determine which shows I'll be attending. If I could, I'd spend every weekend traveling to one show or another, but spending time at conventions means spending money that might be exceptionally tight as I begin my full-time freelance career. More importantly, spending time at conventions means spending time away from my family.

With that in mind, every convention I attend must serve at least one of three purposes: earning money, expanding my audience significantly, or advancing my professional career. I realize this sounds pretty mercenary and selfish, but those are the guidelines that make sense to me. Spending a ton of dough on travel and hotel expenses at an event where I only sell a few books just isn't good business!

So, as the 2011 convention season starts gearing up, here are the shows I'm planning on attending. I hope to see you at one of these events!

Of course, this list is subject to change. There's always the chance I'll add a few more events to the mix. For now, though, this is my plan for the rest of the year. I'll post details (signing schedules, panels, and other events) as each show draws a little closer.
