For the first time in months, I'm caught up

Subjectively speaking, this is the first time since the beginning of the year that I have time on my hands. There's no urgent "needs doing yesterday" stuff on my desk. Nada. I don't have any of my own novels to edit for publication. (Doesn't mean I couldn't grab one from the drawer and rework it for submission - but no, I'm not going there.)

So, everything's off and gone. I finished the final line edits of "Scorpion" last week. After that, it was the "sanity check" for "Father of all Things", and I still found stuff. We also had to fill in cover spec sheets for both books (submitting artwork and ideas). And the last couple days, I've agonized over the blurb for "Scorpion". The final version of the line edits of "Father of all Things", went out this morning. The "Scorpion" blurb went out today, one day late.

I have loads of email I need to respond to. Royalty statements to organize (tax year ends in April). I have several ideas for new novels/stories. I bought a pile of books for research. I have three advanced works in progress, two of which need research.

I've fallen behind on blogging. Fallen off the face of the earth while wrestling with a pile of work. I have a contract to sign. A brain to recover. A desk to clean. More than six hundred THOUSAND words to edit for "Special Forces".

Part of me wants to go to bed.

On the way to London today (I managed to meet a friend in Foyles and not acquire a *single* book), I read what I have for the boxer story and "Scorpion 2". And there's some very good writing going on there. So, I'm hoping to do some work on either Scorpion part 2 or the boxer. Iron Cross still needs more research.

That's really the plan for the rest of the year - finish those three. It might even work out.

Aleksandr Voinov *lol* I actually went to bed and slept for 10 hours. I think that was well deserved. :)

Casey Well deserved indeed.
its such a great day today - real spring, daffodils are out in the garden, people mowing lawns... great day to chill out. Hope you enjoy it.

Aleksandr Voinov Here it's grey and very uninspiring... but I enjoy not having to work on anything anyway.

Casey I have deep blue skies and birds twittering - that fab spring chill in the air that makes everything fresh and clean. Perfect walking weather...
Sometimes grey skies can be just as good for putting the kettle on and putting your feet up :)

Sandra Good thing you don't have anything urgent anymore. I don't know how you manage all that stuff without going crazy. I have a hard time organizing my "to read" shelf :(

I am getting excited about 'Scorpion'. I haven't read a thing about it, to keep myself in suspense, but the title is getting to me and I am going all giddy about it.

Oh, and I totally thought you said "I managed to meet a friend in Foyles and not acquire a *single* look" lol I was going to ask if that's a good or bad thing, but then realized you were talking about something completely different. I'm going crazy and I'm not even half as busy as you :)

Aleksandr Voinov I have spreadsheets to help me keep organized. But compared to the amount I had to juggle while being in journalism, all this is still fairly relaxed.

I think "Scorpion" is a great book (of course, I would). We're getting close to release day, too. I can't wait to hear back how people like it.

Sandra Spreadsheets are a great idea, but I am a 'chaos' by nature, and suck at organizing and planning. I sometimes feel like one of those mad scientists from movies...
I almost read the Scorpion blurb from your next post, but realized last moment what it was and I stopped. I want a complete surprise for this one. Can't wait!!
Now, I think I am going to read Lion of Kent because I've been planning to do so for a while :)

Aleksandr Voinov Sandra - believe me, it didn't come naturally to me, either. I'm crap at juggling 10 balls at the same time (or more).

I hope the blurb doesn't give anything away, in any case, there are a lot of twists and turns in the tale that are definitely not mentioned in the blurb. :)

Let me know what you think of "Lion". (I have to start planning the sequel.)

message 9: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hehe, I can't even juggle two :) I think I end up having more 'todo' lists than anything else lol But yeah, I keep trying and somehow, I do it pretty well at work, but just not otherwise, hmmm...

You know, it was King Arthur that got me started with fan fiction, which then progressed into m/m craziness that I love so much now. So, even though Vadim and Dan took over my soul, stories of Knights still have a speacial place in my heart ;) I am up to page 64 of "Lion" and I love William so much! Particularly his taste in men (Robert is HOT) lol
I am so excited that you are planning a sequel.

As for the Scorpion blurb, it's just me. I don't like to read summaries of highly anticipated stories/movies. It adds to suspense or something, I really don't know...I'm silly like that.

message 10: by Aleksandr (new)

Aleksandr Voinov I agree - Robert is extremely hot... I do hope to start on the sequel pretty soon (first I have three others to do). Still very proud of the boar hunt, too. :)

Oh, I do hope the story is better than the blurb, too. (I hate writing blurbs.)
