Okay, but why are they taking the baby on a case? Why would they do that? Can’t they afford a baby sitter?

they are looking for the baby’s real parents that’s why they have it with them to show it around

it seriously doesn’t make sense because if john is supposed to carry that thing around whenever they have to go out on a chase then…. he can’t really run, can he? is he gonna walk while sherlock runs alone or with mary? err….

It makes absolutely NO sense in a realistic sort of way.

No one said it was for a case. Cupid reported that the action was Amanda and Martin spot Ben across the street while he’s on the phone. Sounds like they were just out for a walk with the baby and a dog and ran into Sherlock (not that Sherlock wouldn’t have planned that). 

I agree the bloodhound seems case-y, but if it were a tracking dog, I’d expect there to be cops and canine handlers around. So perhaps Mary and John got a dog that just happens to be a bloodhound?  (great, now we have a baby and a dog to deal with).

I too can’t imagine that John and Mary would deliberately take the baby on a case. So that’s probably not the set-up.

Yeah, it’s the bloodhound that made me think case. Why would they go and adopt a giant dog into a townhouse at the same time they are bringing home a baby? But maybe it’s for protection? Do bloodhounds do protection?

I dunno. My Spidey senses are telling me something is off.

They might have adopted the dog as you say, for protection (if Mary is feeling vulnerable). Or they might be dog sitting for a friend. Or perhaps Sherlock did get the bloodhound for some case-y reason but it sticks around and it’s with John and Mary that day. No way to know.

One thing I’m certain of though–they don’t stage all this just to lie to us and be sneaky. Filming is serious and expensive business, and everyone has incredibly over-booked schedules. They wouldn’t waste time and resources just to fuck with the hard core fans’ heads. Tweet mysteriously, snap a misleading pic or two, perhaps, but not faking entire scenes on location.

The hell of setlock. For me, johnlock or not, I just want Mary gone and John back at Baker St. I have to hold fast to Mark’s comment “All roads lead back to Baker St.”
